What are the types of Digital Marketing?

This is an interesting question.

At We Are Doodlebug we look first at the purpose and then at the best channel - there are many ways of splitting these up into groups, but I think our way makes it clear:

Social, Search and Owned. As can be seen in this blog, there are a vast and ever growing number of individual elements - but these three cover the main ways of getting your relevant content out there to your audience.

Social - When I speak to people and tell them what I do, this is generally the first thing that pops into their head. Social management and paid advertising on social networks can provide a really good return - as long as you are in the same networks as your customers. All the platforms have their own foibles and idiosyncrasies but they can be an effective and fun way to sell - as long as you remember to treat them as a social entity, your interactions are as important as the message - don’t shout into the void!!

Search - As Google is so omnipresent it has become a verb, this is the main search engine we use - but others such as Bing are keen to catch up (and can provide a better return if you have the right target audience). Again - there is organic and paid advertising on these platforms. It is less about interactions, and more about answering questions, which is what the search engines were created to do.

A point of note here - please don’t view ‘organic’ as ‘free’ - those who are successful in this area are putting a large amount of time and/or money into developing the third area - Owned - so that they can capitalise on the search potential. (This actually applies to paid ads as well, but I will touch on that in a later blog).

Owned - This refers to everything you have produced and have control over. First is normally a website, so you have somewhere you control to interact with your customers - but it includes (at We Are Doodlebug) anything where you are not reliant on a third party algorithm to communicate with your audience.

Our websites interact on your behalf - showing a different experience to visitors depending on their behaviour, actions and even location or time of year, but this will work best when it is supported by clear social and search strategies. Your blog is yours - even if we write it! - as are your email campaigns (which are more effective than you might think, when set up well) and any visual images/video content you produce.

The key to what We Are Doodlebug can provide to you is a continuity of user experience across whole campaigns. We make sure your advert directs to a specific and relevant landing page, your social videos are present on your site and users are not left wondering how they got to a page and what it’s relevance is to their search. It sounds glib, but we want them to feel you guiding them towards the product or service they need/want even when there isn’t a physical person involved.

When we have your purpose planned out, and know the target for our activities we make sure you have suitable content and reach across the three areas - but always starting with owned. Everything else in the broad and varied world of digital marketing fits into one of these areas, and the best option for you will depend on exactly what you need to achieve - which we would be very excited to help you do!

What is International Day of Education? On the 24th of January we are celebrating International Day of Education, we recognising the education sector from a broader perspective. You may think, why is this something that needs recognizing? Well let us tell you. In 2018 the United Nations General Assembly granted the 24th of January as The International Day of Education. This day in particular focuses on educational development and reflecting on what we take for granted for accessing education and resources. Why Is This Important? Last year alone, the UK had at least 10.7 million children attending schools across the country whilst in other underdeveloped countries such as Sudan, Mali and others have a staggering rate of 258 million pupils who do not have access to any form of education. It is especially hard for those living in regions of higher inequality, education is not deemed as necessary and is often dismissed. Often governments also lack the sufficient funding for educational resources, meaning there is not enough funding for basic necessities such as bathrooms, teachers and supplies of uniform. International Day Of Education calls for change; the aim is to bring civil societies and individuals to take solid steps to ensure that children get to have a primary and secondary education in underdeveloped countries. Who Have We Worked With? We Are Doodlebug are proud to have worked with two amazing UK based Educational Trusts. As a company we believe in growth, the education sector is proven to provide that for individuals especially those in less fortunate circumstances. As Malala Yousafzai said “One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world”. The Diocese of Ely Multi Academy Trust, and Campfire Education Trust have been pivotal in providing Primary school education to thousands of children. Both Trust’s provide and establish a dynamic professional learning community, allowing children to grow an enthusiasm for learning and create curiosity about the world whilst still providing a caring attitude towards it. Seeing a child flourish in education is not just rewarding, it also gives them a chance in life and sets them up for success. How We Are Doodlebug Support Educational Trusts/Schools? 1.We can provide a consistent brand across schools whilst maintaining individual personality. 2.Ability to easily find policies in one place on the main MAT website which school sites link to so that they are always kept up to date and remain compliant. 3.We provide support via phone or email as well as training staff to make their own edits.a different source.
